Stimulus Intensity
Intensities should be reported as normalized values that describe how strong the stimulus was relative
to your maximum setting. We recommend using decimals between 0.0 and 1.0 so the
HRtree can compare studies consistently. A few common examples:
0.0 – Stimulus was absent (e.g., baseline or control condition).
0.5 – Stimulus delivered at 50% of the maximum intensity available.
1.0 – Stimulus delivered at full intensity.
If your paradigm uses a different scaling (e.g., raw lux, dB, or Newtons), please convert to a normalized
decimal where possible and document the mapping in your submission notes.
